Mallorca
Arrival
If luscious surroundings make you happy, then you will be ecstatic at Bikini & Mountain Hotel. Between the design and the details, the atmosphere and ambiance, and the food and service, I can say nothing else but “I love it!!”
Design and decor
The concept is 70’s flower power with peace signs, rainbows, wicker furniture, palm tress and vinyl and cassette tapes dotted about. The hotel’s style and spirit is a blend of relaxed Bali, Zen and unfeigned hippie-bohemian -though without the sex, drugs and rock n’ roll! It has a very strong metropole-hipster factor: all the details that are trendy RIGHT NOW are present. As well as some new ideas. The hippie theme is something I have not yet seen for a hotel, and it works.
Ambiance
There are constant “SoMe” (social media) moments here, along with sweet genuine smiles from the staff. The constant background music is luckily made up of mostly 80’s classics. And it works. All of it. The music makes you feel relaxed with a sprinkling of joy. I am sure I have started an overproduction of oxytocin; enough to keep me content through our long Scandinavian winters.
This is the first hotel I have stayed at that did not accept children. And I must admit it gives the place a completely different vibe. Mostly because everyone here is relaxed; maybe even switched off. People trickle down to breakfast at 10-11. Others hang out on the sofas and play chess. Couples kiss and speak softly. The staff have time to talk. No one raises their voices. This is a distinctly reflective spot where you put yourself and your partner first.
Room
The rooms are small but cosy with nice details. The big plus is the balcony. This is where energy was put. The balcony has a hammock, table and chairs, candles (the first hotel I’ve been to with candles) and incense. Loose white curtains can be pulled for privacy. It adds a feeling of luxury while giving a bit more room. And the view!! Sigh! How beautiful! Mountains, sea, forest, fine buildings and green hillsides-and you are in the middle of it all. It is only five minutes to the beach, boardwalk, boutiques, restaurants and cafés. The meeting of ambition and result are not in full balance here. The rooms are a bit too small, the materials are a bit cheap, but that must be why they can keep the prices at the level the do.
Overall
I am very excited about this hotel and I have been here two times - both times very good
This hotel is on my top twenty list of the coolest hotels I have visited worldwide, and I will be back
It is a perfect “working” hotel where I can work a few hours on my computer and unwind and plan for the rest of the day
This is a distinctly reflective spot where you put yourself and your partner first.
Staff, guest and vibe is relaxed, cool, and happy!
